Department of Homeland Security Identifies Chiropractors as Essential Service Providers
Sacramento, Calif. – April 1, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released an advisory memorandum authored by Christopher C. Krebs, director of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on March 28 stating Doctors of Chiropractic are part of the essential critical infrastructure workforce.
The memo states “CISA has developed, in collaboration with other federal agencies, State and local governments, and the private sector, an “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce” advisory list. This list is intended to help State, local, tribal and territorial officials as they work to protect their communities, while ensuring continuity of functions critical to public health and safety, as well as economic and national security. Decisions informed by this list should also take into consideration additional public health considerations based on the specific COVID-19-related concerns of particular jurisdictions.”
The advisory list identifies workers in industries ranging from healthcare, law enforcement, technology, food and agriculture, transportation, energy, water and public works “who conduct a range of operations and services that are typically essential to continued critical infrastructure viability.” Click here to view the CISA infographic on essential critical infrastructure workers.
“California chiropractors are essential! The statement by the DHS has validated CalChiro’s stance that we are an extremely valuable asset to the healthcare infrastructure. Chiropractors are providing essential services to patients limiting the strain on the urgent and emergency care systems. We are honored to provide services for all Californians as we navigate through this crisis,” said California Chiropractic Association (CalChiro) President Andrew O. Williams, DC.
